For all you night owls

Not much planetary viewing as the only ancient god visible in the sky is Jupiter which will make an appearance through October and slowly rise up in the east sky.

The Scorpion will slowly dive headfirst further and further down in the east and be gone by October.

For all you early birds

This is a worthwhile time to be an insomniac or up early. Jupiter is high overhead and Mars is rising in the east before the sun. A beautiful sight is Jupiter next to the Moon on the 17th Sep. By the end of October Jupiter will be sinking lower in the west and Mars rises to be high overhead. To help you find Mars, he will be next to the Moon on the 23rd Sep.

Look out for the 7 Sisters, otherwise known as the Pleiades, in the shoulder of Taurus the Bull. Let the Moon be your guide as she travels close by the Pleiades on the 18th Sep. The Pleiades are reputed to cause blindness by the ancients. Perhaps they looked at them all time and they found that after years of trying to count them; some do disappear. Funny about that! Nothing to do with failing eyesight at all!  But please do take a look as they are quite beautiful. The Mayas worshipped them and some sources say they are an important part of their calendar system.
